Tip 3: You won't have all the answers



I’m offering free advice or tips to employers, HR or Internal Comms teams to help them understand their employees’ needs in this new world. For example…

Not only will you not have the answers, you won’t even have all the questions.

What is happening is so new, to so many people, so quickly – it would be absurd to think you can know how people might be feeling and what their new needs are.

So, you cannot ask (only) closed questions. You have to give your people the space to express how they feel. And having allowed them to say what’s on their mind, your own mind must be open enough to truly hear what they say.

Make no assumptions. Take things you weren’t prepared for as truth.

Make it clear that nothing’s off-limits – and listen to it all.
